How to Browse the web more securely Using https

People have used Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) to browse the web for a long time; but then security issues became a concern.

In response Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) was born as a more secure version of http.

As the number of businesses moving to the online space keeps growing, so does the need to provide customers with a safe and secure online environment while browsing these websites. Therefore, businesses must understand how to provide web security for their customers and secure their web browsing experience, if they want to be proactive about building their customer base and increasing their revenue with their online presence.

The world wide web (i.e. the Internet) is an amazing place which offers products, services and information to people from all over the world. However, there are all sorts of malicious users out there who would do anything to steal online users information such as personal details and credit card numbers. This is a very serious problem, and it’s important to ensure that customers feel safe while browsing the online website of an online business because if they don’t, then they wouldn’t want to do business with them! To avoid losing customers, a good online business will need to set up Web Security.

An online business would typically start by registering a domain name and have their website designed and hosted online. When the business is ready to start selling its products or services online, they would need to provide their customers with a safe and secure online shopping experience. In order to provide security to their customers, the business would need to purchase an SSL certificate which is an online ID card that provides a confirmation to online shoppers that the business they are dealing with is who it claims to be. An SSL certificate – short for Secure Socket Layer – can be purchased from a “Certificate Authority”. A certificate authority is a web services company that issues SSL certificates to online businesses. They perform some research on the company requesting the SSL certificate, check their references, and assures the identity of the company behind the website by confirming that the business is who it claims to be online. An SSL certificate is also used to encrypt data which flows between the online customers and the online business, which means this data is secure and cannot be used by malicious users even if they manage to steal it.
